The
building which houses the Victoria hotel has been in existence
since the mid nineteenth century, and can be seen on the left in
this photo of the island's celebrations for the coronation of King
George V (1911).

Today Alderney offers a

walking, birdwatching, or just relaxing

The island is surrounded by British forts dating back to the 19th century. Fort Clonque, shown here, is accessed by a causeway but is cut off by the sea during high tides.

The island is a secluded haven, and those who visit never fail to be charmed by the experience.
